Throwgood Maxam Cob Saddle best suited to wider barrel hard to fit type horses.  This is a wide saddle with flat panels and has three girth straps and a fourth point strap for extra security against movement on flat backed cobs or wider horses.  I am only selling as I no longer have the horse I used for this saddle on. Please note that this is not a gullet changing saddle it is a fixed gullet and is stamped as extra wide 17". A black, synthetic general purpose Thorowgood saddle in good condition. It has suede-effect seat and knee rolls and is very comfortable to ride in. I bought the saddle two years ago to back my youngster in and it's been brilliant, but now he has changed shape, so I'm having to sell it.  It's lightweight and robust and has the usual signs of wear, but is in great working condition. It has a cut back pommel, so great for higher/larger withered horses. It's very easy to maintain - just a quick wipe down with a damp cloth does the job. Both stirrup leather keepers have been lost (see photo), but the flaps are totally fine. All 6 girth straps are in good condition as is the tree. There is only one buckle guard (there was only one when I bought the saddle). It's an ideal saddle for hacking, jumping, flatwork, backing a young horse or for a cold backed horse due to being lightweight. It measures (see photos too): 9" D ring to D ring 5.5' inside below D rings 15.5"cantle to cut back part of pommel 17" cantle to front of pommel 13" across the widest part of the saddle flap Please note, the saddle blanket in the photos is not for sale! A GP saddle made by Thorowgood, I bought this recently and have used it for hacking a couple of times, but it doesn't fit my horse very well. It's in perfect condition apart from the usual few marks and bits of dust from use, no scratches or damage. It has the 4 girth strap system and removable knee rolls. It is NOT the adjustable gullet version, does have fish inserts (unused). 17 inch seat, was initially sold as a wide fitting. Bought for £165. Thanks for looking!
