Beautiful Dawes Discovery Tandem

Beautiful Dawes Discovery Tandem. In mint condition. Perfect tandem for many many more adventures. 26 inch wheels. Frame size . I am 5ft 11. My stoker 5ft 6. Plenty of room for adjustment. Recently has had the rear wheel rebuilt with brand new spokes. I've also put on brand new bar tape. All gears working excellently. We've fitted Gatorskins for speed but I've also got slightly wider tyres and 6 spare inner tubes for you to be able to take it on trails. We enjoyed many adventures on this but unfortunately it is time for it to find a new home. I am also selling the tandem roof bars. They are side loading meaning no heavy lifting. Dawes discovery tandem xt gears extensively upgraded.

21" front and 16" rear centre to top. 27 gears. We used it for the first year then last year were ready for an upgrade. The gears were dreadful, saddles uncomfortable and it wasn't much fun to ride. After some consideration we decided to uprate parts rather than the bike. So this is what we did... New Selle italia his n her saddles New Carbon fibre riser bars front and rear..greatly reduce road buzz Shimano xt 9 speed gears front, rear and shifters New 9 speed cassette All 4 chain rings replaced with stronglight alloy ones All new chains Full new cable set gears and brakes All new spd pedals New lighter seat post clamps New resin bottle cages x3 New scwalbe city jet road tyres All clamp bolts for handlebar stems and bottle cages etc replaced with stainless steel. It is now a joy to ride. Everything was removed, rebuilt and regreased. So no shocks with ceased bottom brackets or seatposts etc. It is now significantly lighter, smoother and faster than it ever was and you would have to spend twice the asking price to get someting comparable new. It comes with a spare set of schwalbe knobbly tyres should you want to use it off road. A rack and a spare inner tube. It also gas some plastic flat pedals you may wish to use to get started with. However spd's are So much better. I will leave on the garmin mount. It has proper 40 spoke super strong tandem wheels with strong stainless steel plain gauge spokes. These 26" tandem wheels are so much stronger than 700c tandems. All in all a great tandem ready to go which requires nothing in way of parts or work. It is a used tandem and has some light scratches but absolutely no dents or gouges. As can be seen from the pics its very presentable. Any trial or inspection is very welcome. Excellent condition Dawes Duchess bike. Purchased at Evans for £350 and hardly used since. Evans logbook and Dawes original instructions included. This is a modern bike with classic looks, inspired in retro British roadsters. If you like vintage looks but prefer modern brakes and components this is your bike. It is very comfy to ride, keeping your back totally straight. Faster than it looks too. It comes with alloy rims, which are light and provide good braking in the rain (unlike real vintage bikes). It comes with front basket with support, mudguards, chainguard, Ding-Dong bell and kickstand.
