Dexter has been classed as a bomb-proof pony and is perfect for a first time pony or beginners. He has an excellent temperament and is patient around children and has been used to teach youngsters how to ride. Dexter is also considerate of other animals, especially dogs as he has been surrounded by them for many years. He would also be a great companion pony. I used to compete on Dexter showjumping, but in recent years I have either schooled him or gone on hacks. He is also excellent with the farrier. This book examines their beginnings and charts their course from the working pony of the Welsh hills to the show pony and children's pony par excellence of today.
