BEAUTIFUL LARGE VINTAGE EGYPTIAN INLAID BOX in Southampton

Beautiful vintage inlaid Egyptian box approx inches (43.8 cms) x 12 inches (30.5 cms) x 4 inches (10.2 cms) with the interior lined with blue felt. The box is in nice clean condition, but there are a few tiny pieces of inlay missing commensurate with age and having been used but nothing disfiguring in my opinion. The reason for sale is that we are starting to downsize ready for future move. This box is sold strictly as cash on collection (no cheques, thanks) from Southampton.

COLLECTION 175 (approx) VINTAGE INLAID EGYPTIAN BOXES -

There are approximately 175 vintage inlaid Egyptian boxes in this collection of various shapes and sizes. The approx number and size of each shape is 49 domed (largest 8 inches x 5 inches, smallest 3.75 inches x 2.75 inches) 40 rectangular/hexagonal (largest 8.5 inches x 5.75 inches, smallest 5.5 inches x 4 inches) 17 hexagonal (largest 6.75 across, smallest 3.5 across) 56 rectangular (largest 10 inches x 6 inches, smallest 8.75 x 5 inches) 13 square (2.5 inches square). They have been stored for years and consequently, some have pieces of inlay missing, but there are sufficient boxes here to use a few as donors to restore the others. The overwhelming majority are still in their unvarnished and unlined condition, so they require finishing. I have finished several others which I am keeping for myself using clear polyurethane varnish on the outside and felt stuck on the inside to achieve a truly beautiful box.
