O.   MASSIVE BATTERED 18th CENTURY PEWTER

THESE DISCOVERIES WERE FOUND ON VERY LOW TIDE'S OF THE THAMES, SEE ALL LISTINGS. Found at a depth of 2 foot in the mud, an 18th century (circa ) pewter tankard inscribed: WATTS & HARTON and QUART. It also has the owner's mark surrounded by a Latin inscription. WATTS & HARTON are mentioned in Markham's pewter mark book as of the 18th century. This pot has various dents to the body but it is all complete with no holes. It stands 5  3/4 inchs tall and is HEAVY! Hence postage costs. P/P AT £5.00, overseas by air mail at £.

For sale cabinet on stand, it's 18th century, this cabinet is decorated with flowers and leaves, together with birds and other animals. Thin veneers of coloured woods were cut out and assembled like a jigsaw on the surface of a plain wooden panel. Beautiful and large oak carved Madonna sculpture. It comes from Flanders and is made in a somewhat naive style. The sculpture has a dark brown patina and it is pretty old. We believe it comes from the first half of the 19th century, possibly the 2nd half of the 18th century. The condition is fairly good with various traces of age (see photos). Pewter Lidded Tankard Awarded at Winchester College in

A pewter lidded tankard made by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, c, and engraved with the coat of arms of what I believe to be Winchester College (old coat of arms), and inscribed: "Southgate House Fives Feby 26th P H Bouson W Were" Marked around the base "James Dixon & Sons" with a date letter W in a rounded corner rectangle, and a code number 482. Fives is still a popular sport played at Winchester College, and I believe this tankard was awarded to the winners of the Winchester College Fives competition in , two members of Southgate House. Overall the tankard is in good order, with the hinge intact. The glass bottom has cracked over the years, and the cracks repaired as one might a cracked windscreen. Main body of tankard is 150 mm tall including lid. Tankard is 95 mm diameter at the base. Original, patina.
