Antique Japanese sword in koshirae (wakizashi), Edo period
Click here to view this lot Antique Japanese sword in koshirae (shinogi-zukuri wakizashi). The blade was forged in Edo period, "mumei" (school and maker unknown). The blade has original good polish and shows some fine scratches, "mokume hada suguha hamon", "/komidare", "ubu nakago" (not shortened). Length "nagasa": 45.6 cm, length in koshirae: 73 cm, "motogasane" (sheet thickness at the nakago): 7 mm, "motohaba" (blade width at the nakago): 2.9 cm, "sori" (bend): 1 cm. There is no chip, no crack, no bend in the blade and "cutting edge" is very sharp, guaranteed no "hagire". The saya has a few small cracks in the varnish. A beautiful antique "kodogu" (sword fittings) finish the sword all the way! This wakizashi is complete and in good collectible condition.
