Antony displayed in brown Franciscan habit and one of his attributes, the lily (symbol of virginity) - the child Jesus depicted as a small adult.Anthony of Padua (Lisbon, 15 August June ), born as Fernando Martins de Bulhões into a rich, noble family, was a friar who was a theologian and a Doctor of the Church - he is regarded as an important holy person -he is the patron saint of the Franciscan order, lost objects, women and children, the poor, bakers, miners, marriage, travellers and lovers and patron against shipwreck, the plague and fever. He is also invoked by Catholics when objects are gone - from as early as the 13th century the holy Anthony of Padua is known for his help in finding lost objects. In a good condition with signs of old age - top side of head a dry stretch/shrink crack filled with glue - hands of Jesus are missing - all around loss of polychromy here and there. Read More

Exceptionally beautiful polychrome coloured wooden sculpture depicting an angel with her hands folded devoutly and eyes closed in kneeling position. Very finely depicted, with beautiful details such as her dressflowing in the wind. Supposedly made in France around . The condition is good considering the age with naturally some age traces and crackle, that only give the sculpture more character. The wings of the angel were for the most part lost in the past. The polychromy is partly updated at a later date.Dimensions: 27 cm high x 16 x 11 cm. It has a nice patina and a very warm serene look.Origin: this Crucifix hung on the altar of an ancient Nunnery in the Leuven region, Belgium. Originally, however, it is in Habsburg Baroque style, probably Tirol region.This piece is ca. 250 years old and bears traces of wear by age and religious custom, it has some old imperfections, see pictures.
