The knots are symmetrical and of low density, the hems are of a flat type of 2-4 pairs of warps and and are wound up by the wefts. The edges often end with a wide band of kilim. Welcome to Passion d'Orient:The Koliay/Koliai are semi-nomads from the Kurd ethnic group, and live in a rural area between the centres of Songor, Asadabad and Kirmanshah, where their carpets can be found. These are quite heavy and robust manufactured items with a relatively high-cut pile. Their wool is of good quality and features a satisfying shine. The field is divided into diamond shapes by a continuous grid consisting of stems and tiny rosettes. Sometimes, the decoration features spandrels, and in other cases, it extends freely over the whole field. The centre medallion is also an element that is sometimes inserted into this pattern.
