An Elaborate, Quality, Heavy, Antique, Gilt, Brass, Articulated,Fire Screen Holder & Table Top Clamp. I believe the brass has been gilded or plated in some way. It may also be from the regency period. I believe these were used to hang Embroidered Silk Fire Face Screens from Table tops, to protect a ladies face from a fire & to maintain their pale complexion. Sadly i do not have the embroidered material fire face screen, or the T - bar which it is suspended from. The end screw that would have held the T - bar in place is also missing. I believe these were used to hang Embroidered Silk Fire Face Screens, to protect a ladies face from a fire & to maintain their pale complexion. I do not have the embroidered material fire face screen but i have seen these for sale at antique fairs & markets. Sadly it requires restoring, as the T - bar is broken & has become detached from the vertical part. It does attach to the metal part but requires repairing properly. The T - bar is approx 8 3/4" long. Odd places are a little tarnished, which is expected due to the age. The vertical part is approx just under 17" from it's longest points & including the handle. It is in lovely condition, we have replaced the original glass with toughened glass.
