A GEORGIAN SILVER PLATED TEA CADDY, CIRCA

A GEORGIAN SILVER PLATED TEA CADDY, CIRCA

FOR SALE AN OLD-SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED GEORGIAN TEA CADDY, CIRCA . THIS IS AN INTERESTING OLD TEA CADDY THAT NEEDS A LITTLE TLC TO THE LID WHICH, ALTHOUGH CONTEMPORARY WITH THE CADDY POT, NEEDS PERHAPS A SILVERSMITH (OR SOMEONE HANDY), TO REALIGN THE RIM WHICH HAS BENT A LITTLE OVER THE YEARS PREVENTING A CLOSE FIT ON CLOSING. THIS ASPECT, THOUGH, WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH TO DO. AT THE MOMENT THE LID DOES NOT FIT CLOSELY OR TIGHTLY. THE CADDY IS DATED IN A CENTRAL CARTOUCHE AREA WHICH ALSO SHOWS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS INITIALS (D.G). THE TEA CADDY WAS MADE JUST TWO YEARS AFTER AT THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO AND, APART FROM THE SMALL ISSUES ABOVE, THE ITEM HAS VERY FEW MINI DINGS AND MARKS WHICH ONE HAS TO EXPECT ON A ITEM NEARLY 200 YEARS OLD. WITH THE ITEM BEING SILVER PLATE THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOME WEAR AND LOSS OF THE PLATE HERE AND THERE, BUT THIS IS MINIMAL. PLEASE REFER TO PHOTOS I HAVE ENCLOSED TO MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND. ITEM SPECIFICS:- Composition:- Silver Plate. Product:- Tea Caddy. Maker:- Unknown. Age:- . Georgian, Circa . Cartouche:- Dated:- with Owners Initials "D.G". THE DIMENSIONS OF THIS TEA CADDY ARE AS FOLLOWS:- HEIGHT (OVERALL, FROM BASE TO TOP OF FINIAL):- CIRCA 153MM (6.5 INCHES). HEIGHT OF POT ITSELF (WITHOUT LID):- 100MM (4 INCHES). WEIGHT:- CIRCA 600 GRAMS ( OUNCES). POSTAGE OF £8.50 APPLIES TO THE UK ONLY AND INVOLVES THE ITEM BEING SENT VIA RECORDED DELIVERY. OVERSEAS BUYERS SHOULD CONTACT ME PRIOR TO PURCHASE FOR POSTAL QUOTES. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS MAY BE LIABLE FOR IMPORT DUTIES IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY. Read More
