Museum-worthy carved wooden figure of Mary, life size, ca. 16th/17th centuryA fantastic life-size depiction of Mary made of wood The figure has been masterfully carved and probably comes from the Riemenschneider or Schwanthaler school. The artist made this sculpture as part of a group of monumental figures. The sculpture group likely depicted the crucifixion with Mary and Mary Magdalene. The figure likely represents the kneeling Mary.The sculpture is likely from the th century.Condition:The figure has heavy signs of wear and tear. The figure was infested with worms and the lower part of the figure shows especially heavy damage. The figure has a few places where pieces of the wood have been broken off and also a few places where the wood has splintered a bit. The figure is heavily stained.
