Telefunken M hi-fi reel-reel tape deck (In need of atten

I have owned and looked after this s tape deck from new. It is in beautiful condition cosmetically (see pictures) with all parts perfectly intact except for a broken hinge on the dust cover. I also have the original instruction booklet plus a comprehensive service manual, both in excellent condition. It is a 3 speed 4 track stereo reel-reel recorder, silent in operation with crystal clear sound (frequency response up to Hz) and separate record and playback heads enabling sound on sound /echo and tape monitoring, and with excellent easy to use controls. But after fitting a genuine brand new playback tape head a while ago I think that I must have soldered the wires back incorrectly, so that needs looking at. Also the fast forward button seems to have stuck. I am now hard of hearing and my eyesight is not what it was so I cannot be bothered to try and fix it and it is therefore reluctantly sold for spares or repair, but when working is an excellent machine. Telefunken was one of the premier quality tape recorder manufacturers and this machine once working again will not disappoint. For collection (Upminster). Read More

We have tested the player with batteries in it (it takes 6 x D batteries - not included) and the right hand spindle turns when play or fast forward is pressed, but nothing happens when rewind is pressed. I can't test whether any sound comes out as I have no reel to reel tapes. There is a little damage to the case: there's a crack just behind the rewind button (see 3rd picture) and the blue translucent cover is damaged at the left hand side.
