One still in original undamaged cellophane wrapping, the other has the cellophane wrapping opened to take the photo. High output long play hi-fi tape on silver plastic spool that looks like an aluminium spool. These particular tapes originally cost more because of the silver spool so are very hard to find nowadays in this perfect condition. Inspection welcome. Cash on collection only. A vintage s reel to reel tape player made by Philips. Comes with microphone which hides away inside the body of the machine. Also comes with plug (I can't test this as it's an old fashoined plug!). We have tested the player with batteries in it (it takes 6 x D batteries - not included) and the right hand spindle turns when play or fast forward is pressed, but nothing happens when rewind is pressed. I can't test whether any sound comes out as I have no reel to reel tapes. There is a little damage to the case: there's a crack just behind the rewind button (see 3rd picture) and the blue translucent cover is damaged at the left hand side. Philips N - Reel to Reel 4 track Tape Recorder - Working

Here is a Philips N track tape recorder in working condition. It has had quite a few hours spent on it to restore it to working order - Residue from old belts removed, cleaned, new drive belts fitted, new clutch mechanisms fitted, new reel brake fitted. Few cosmetic blemishes, couple of small scratches, no serious damage - in good condition considering it is 50+ years old. Internal speaker is working and tape heads appear to be in good condition, back panel cover is missing. Selling as it is surplus to my requirements. More photos available on request. Tascam 38 Reel to Reel half inch tape recorder with DX-4D noise reduction units X2

Sold in non working condition…… However both forward and rewind motors are fully working. I bought a replacement capstan motor from roland-vintage-audio dot com for €90 a while ago with the intention of installing it myself, but got cold feet when i realised it’s beyond my technical abilities. I believe I put a new belt on it a year ago when i got it out of storage and cleaned the heads and pinch roller (could probably do with replacing, but it’s not perished, just a tad sticky) All worked fine for about an hour as i was transferring tapes to DAW and then the capstan motor gave up as tapes were still too sticky after being unused for about 10 years. Comes with take up reel and 2 xDX-4D noise reduction units. All buttons and lights work. i Think I still have its original Box and possibly the manual I’d rather not post i due to it’s weight and age, but if you want to arrange your own courier and take the risk, then go ahead! £150. AKAI DS 3-head 2-speed reel-to-reel hi-fi stereo tape

One of the classic reel-to-reels from Akai, offering 2 speeds (3.75ips/7.5ips), off-tape monitoring plus mono/stereo recording and playback time of up to 3 hours per side (using a 7" reel with ft tape). All of the transport controls work fine - play, pause, record, fast-forward and rewind - and the machine is cosmetically in good/very good condition. Inputs/outputs:- on the front panel there are 2 microphone inputs plus a headphone socket; at the rear there are RCA line inputs (for CD, tuner, MP3 player etc.) and RCA line outputs (for connection to an amplifier) plus a DIN socket and voltage selector. A small piece of veneer is damaged at the back of the left-hand side panel and one of the rubber reel retainers will need replacing - this is reflected in the price.
