17.1 shire x 16 years old gelding

lovely 17.1 shire x we have owned him for about 8 months but have found he does not like our life style. we have him in most of winter and working just in the school a couple of days a week but he would like to go back to living out more and hacking he finds the school boring as he is very nosey. he will decide to do the odd spook in the school if he feels his rider is a complete novice but great to hack in traffic. he does kick the door when food has finished another reason he is best out. he is a real gentle giant and great to handle stands perfect for clipping, bathing etc up to date with everything he is unshod at the moment as only in the school but would benefit from shoes with road work. loves people and great with other horses. comes with English bridle and all his rugs. Shire x gelding in Carlisle

Shire X 6 year old gelding. Andy is a 6 year old Shire x gelding. He is lovely to ride and super safe. He is a kick along in the school but can pick up a gear when out and about cantering up the fell etc. He is a big lad and for that reason I wouldn't sell him to a beginner. He will need someone who is confident to handle him on the ground, he isn't small. He has done a bit of everything including dressage, jumping up to 70cm and started XC this year. He is good to hack alone and in company. However needs a confident rider when hacking alone as he lacks confidence - one big squeeze to get him going is all it takes and once he's off the yard he is an armchair ride. He is coming along nicely with his schooling with 3 beautiful paces, working in an outline when asked. Please remember he is 6 so you will need be continue to school him - if you're looking for a schoolmaster that has been there and done everything he isn't for you. He give everything his best and really tries to please his rider. Andy is currently barefoot and it has never been an issue. He is nail shy so will need a farrier that will work with him quietly - if you're local I can give you the details of my farrier who can shoe him without any issues. He is good for the vet, to bath, load etc. This is a very hard sale so please no time wasters. He is only for sale as I'm looking to do more jumping and XC but he is too heavy for the job.
