Lovely Bourbon earrings in low grade gold (14 kt), Sicily, first half of the 19th century.Fine pair of pendant earrings from Sicily, Bourbon period, first half of the 19th century, in low grade gold, featuring very fine workmanship, bridge clasp with spring, and embellished with 17 small pearls along the edge. Very refined and eye-catching. For true collectors.In very good condition despite their age.Their beauty is evinced from the photo; please take a good look at the photo gallery.Total weight: 7 g.Bourbon jewellery is characterised by very fine workmanship, despite the not very high value of the materials used. The new manufacturing techniques of the period allowed the creation of jewellery in thin metal foil that was cut and embossed, thus producing items of jewellery with a limited quantity of gold, but with a very vivacious and opulent look thanks to the workmanship and to the use of stones and especially of patterns of small pearls characteristic of the Bourbon era. Usually the quality of the gold is never very high, however it is not always easy to determine the fineness of Bourbon era items of jewellery, because every goldsmith employed his personal 'recipe' for the gold. This is an authentic vintage item, full of charm and elegance, entirely handmade with the antique hammering technique, the traces of which can be seen, which was in use during that historic period. It is not a remake; it is an authentic, antique, very beautifully made item of jewellery. In very good condition, the clasp is in perfect working order, with the small safety chain. I have bought this beautiful item from Catawiki before, so the description was made by auctioneer R. Kamphuis.Solid gold brooch / tie pin (2-piece with necklace) First part is signed at the back with 'ar RE.CARCE '. This item of jewellery features 4 rubies and 18 seed pearls around a blue enamelled shield with inscription. The shield seems to be pierced by a sabre. There at two eyelets at the ends of the sabre, possibly there were things suspended from those. The second part, connected by a gold necklace, is a gold part with 16 seed pears in total (1 seems to be missing, but maybe this is how it should be, to accentuate the letter 'A') set in the letters AR.
