He is not fizzy at all but is quite forward and definitely pulls his confidence from his rider. With that in mind he would suit a confident/competent novice. He loves hacking and is fine on his own or in a group. He loves to pop small//medium jumps (I have videos) and is a good, all round sort. Very easy to manage on the yard, a very good dooer and is responsive to leg and voice aids (as I’m nervous, I’ve done quite a bit of ground work with him). The downside (some would say)...he cribs in the stable. It has no effect on him to date, I just check his teeth every 6 months. I’m in no rush to move him on, I can wait for the right home and I’ll continue working with him to keep him fit and active. A stunning pony by Heaton Romeo who has been shown in hand and as a lead rein. He has taught my 3 children to ride on lead rein and then off lead rein out hacking, but he is not a first ridden pony in the school or at events as can get strong, excited and pop in a buck. He would suit a confident older child or small adult as the rider needs to get him going forward and work him properly. He has been schooled for showing and can canter on command but with us he has been primarily used to hack. An absolute darling to handle at home, good to loads, good with vet and farrier, has no health issues. All vaccinations and teeth up to date (April ) and only has front shoes (goes bare foot in the winter when we do less road work). Lives out most of the winter (until our ground can’t cope) and then in at night/ out by day (rugged part of the winter). Hi merlin is 6yrs old and fully registered Connemara he has hacked on busy roads and country lanes on his own and in company and not put a foot wrong he's good to shoe, clip, bath, plait, load and travel he's a snaffle mouth and a real one for the family pony my 5yr old nephew has ridden him. He's done some jumping over coloured and natural fences and was showing very brave and bold he's done a hunter trail and gave it 100%. He was bought with the intention of doing workers but my niece has decided to give up and we have just lost our livery so he's been turned away and brought back into work 3 weeks ago and has been as good as gold. A good home is more important as he's such a gentle friendly pony definitely one for the family.
