Allen & Heath ZED-14 6-Input Mixing Console with USB Port Bought for £299 from Anderson’s Music, Guildford - Only actually used for a few studio sessions. PLEASE NOTE: There are a couple of issues. The stereo channel does not seem to be working for some reason. Also the phantom power button along with a couple of others seem to have sunk somehow. These are probably easy fixes. But even without, the mixer is still very usable as is. No idea how this happened as although we have owned it for about 14 months it has hardly been used really so very odd. Obviously i have taken this into account regarding the price. These seem to sell for around £ second hand, so this is a nice bargain for someone. When amplifying the signal from the XLR input, the gain range is huge - 69dB of range to be exact - and is very evenly distributed around the gain control, meaning better control of signal level. Most of the gain comes from the first stage, so unwanted noise is kept to a minimum. Line level signals are simply plugged into the second stage of the pre-amp by using the line input jack socket, which has the great advantage of less noise when using the line input and also matching to a higher input impedance.
