for sale a very very rare and interesting ww2 admiralty made in usa pattern no. 6 anti submarine asdic pocket watch in very good condition and working but just needs calibrating, a brief history of the pocket watch, asdic was a early form of sonar in ww2 as sonar was not invented in ww2 and the pocket watch was used along with the asdic system on board war ships and some merchant ships to detect german u boats,so a rare and interesting piece of history and a must for any collection i am open to sensible offers will add photos soon thank you for looking any questions please feel free to ask thank you Dennis

Admiralty Pattern No. 6 Stopwatch in Hitchin

Circa 's and in full working order. These stopwatches calibrated to 6 secs and yards so that submarines and submarine hunters could measure distance from asdic (sonar) returns to target. This has serial numbers but no military markings or makers name on face, although the clues point this to being a Lemania, due to 'swiss made' on very edge of face at 6 o'clock, hinged rear case cover and the type face and positioning of the numbers. It does have a name and number scratched on the back and intriguingly '21 jung', 'jung' as far as I know is a german word???? Any military history sleuths out there?

This is a ww2 navel surface sub hunter pocket stop watch, calibrated for 6 seconds / yards, marked Admiliralty pattern no6, Swiss made, no makers name (e.g. Waltham), so could be a early prototype, plus no MOD arrows which all equipment was marked, finely engraved on back case is Ronald Alan Lyddon (nothing found about this), the watch is in full working order, The 2 main uses of the watch during ww2 is in conjunction under water radar, timing outward and inward pings from a sub hunter to a enemy's sub, plus timing torpedo impact time from being fired
