The bureau comes from Adam Bede. It comes in two parts and will fit in any car. Has 6 drawers for pens, stamps etc. and a leather insert in the writing section. It is very pretty. Bureau Writing Desk / Computer Desk / Storage Desk in

A refurbished / up-cycled writing bureau / computer desk. Painted with a Zinsser undercoat & two coats of white chalk paint, giving it a textured look. Sealed with two layers of Briwax which protects and gives it a nice sheen. The outside has been painted with chalk paint but the insides have been left as they were, giving a nice contrast. there is the odd imperfection but its got character and would look attractive in any home. There is a small black stain on the inside but its not too noticeable (see photo). H cm) L m) W cm) There is a lock but no key. You can view if you live near by. In her teaching and writing, Burton has insisted that the vectors of imperial power run in multiple directions, argued that race must be incorporated into history-writing, and emphasized that gender and sexuality are critical dimensions of imperial history. "Empire in Question" includes Burton's groundbreaking critiques of British historiography, as well as finely-honed essays in which she brings theory to bear on topics from "Jane Eyre" to nostalgia for colonial India. Burton's autobiographical introduction describes how her early encounters with feminist and postcolonial critique led to her convictions that we must ask who counts as a subject of imperial history, while maintaining a healthy skepticism regarding the claims to objectivity that shape much modern history writing.
