Antique Jetware / Jackfield Twin Spout Punch Pot Teapot Crabstock handle & spout & Bamboo style
A rare opportunity to acquire something a bit different. There are lots of Jet Ware teapots of this period, but I have never come across a Punch Pot before and rarer still, a twin ong>spoutong>ed one. A teapot is a round bodied pot, this is an ovoid body. A lovely part of its history and character is that during manufacture, due to the weight of the body, it still has the actual stilts which have sunk into the base before/during firing in a bottle kiln. The punch pot and tea kettles are late 19th century pieces, probably made in Staffordshire, from the 's to c. This type of pottery was known at the time, as Jet Ware, although it is often, wrongly referred to by collectors as "Jackfield" ware. It is a red bodied earthenware with a lead glaze. The designs are printed in terracotta red which has then been filled in by hand with terracotta and other enamel colours. All of the above is for collection only.
