Dutch manufactured, Zaanse, eight day, wall clock, chime

This impressive eight day wall clock is not wound by a key but instead is powered by the brass weights, as they fall they provide power for the mechanism. To wind up the clock and chimes at the end of the week the chain attached to the weights is pulled down lifting the weights up and starting the process again. One weight powers the strike mechanism the other the movement. The clock gives a delightful single strike/chime on the hour by means of a bell on top of the clock. The pendulum is detailed with a horse and rider which is seen working through a decorative window. Regulation is provided by raising or lowering of the pendulum. The movement is on view through the window on the side of the clock. Roman numeral dial. Franz Hermle movement made in West Germany Clock made in Holland Approx. sizes.
