Henk Sprenger (January 3rd, - December 29th, ) is, together with Toonder, Kresse and Dulieu, Kuhn and Piet Wijn, one of the most famous Dutch (classic) comic artists. In the second world war, Sprenger was active at Marten Toonder Studios. Sprenger drew, inked, wrote and devised the plots of all his stories by himself. His most famous work is the balloon comic 'Kick Wilstra'. In the first volume of âKick Wilstraâ, the football hero, was published, whose name was a combination of the names of the famous football players Kick Smit, Faas Wilkes and Abe Lenstra. âKick Wilstraâ appeared in the Ketelbinkie Krant and in Robs Vrienden and various newspapers. The newspaper comics of 'Kick Wilstra' were finally published in 18 oblong volumes.Sprenger made this strip for volume 10, "Kick Wilstra als gladiator", published in book form in .
