Wheatstone Linota Anglo Concertina

An extremely rare and beautiful sounding 30 key Wheatstone Linota serial number 27xxx (built ) in the keys of F/C, a tone lower than G/D and described in the Wheatstone ledgers as a tenor concertina. It is 7 7/8" across the flats, a little larger than a typical C/G. Rosewood ends and original seven fold black bellows. Refurbished with new pads and valves. The concertina is in tune at it's original Philharmonic pitch of A=Hz. It could be re-pitched to modern concert pitch of A=440Hz. I have an excellent reputation for my concertina restoration work at The Box Place.

Anglo concertina, fully restored metal ended 30 key,

A fine sounding metal ended 30 key C/G Anglo concertina fully restored by Dave Elliott, including new 6 fold bellows. (Full restoration details on request) An Anglo player recently said "it has the look and feel of a Jeffries and the sound of a Crabb". There may be good reason for this, as I am reliably informed that it was made by Thomas Shakespeare who lived in London and worked in both the Jeffries and Crabb workshops in the late s. He was apparently sacked from both companies for stealing parts, which he was using in his own workshop to produce what is estimated to be around 180 high quality concertinas. As this was a clandestine business he rarely put his name on any of his concertinas, but there are several good clues to its maker. At some point in its history, a metal support under the wrist strap has been soldered onto the end plate. However, the support is secure and doesn't detract from its appearance or playability.
