Hard-paper cover in lithography by Jaap Gidding (only for this Dutch edition).This sixth issue of the fourth series of Wendingen is devoted entirely to the country house in Oostvoorne, built by Vorkink & Wormser for the Rotterdam insurance family Hudig. It contains 15 photos of the mansion, but also of a gardener's house and of a “duinkoepel” [dune dome] on the estate. The constructions and materials that were used are unusual for Vorkink and Wormser, who until then had mainly designed worker’s homes. This is the Dutch edition. As of this fourth series Wendingen also appeared in English and German. For the English and German versions of this issue, however, the design of the cover of issue 3-8/9 was used. As from the inscriptions, the "vulgar" or vernacular edition in Dutch was published in , whereas the German version was edited in . De Vries' collection of architectural designs soon became a reference book for artists specializing in pictures featuring Renaissance-like buildings. The frontispiece itself is built as a sort of façade in central perspective, with the focal point located just under the text (see picture). Two female figures stand on the sides of the title, holding some tools used by architects. On verso, handwritten note in pen and brown ink with a date, , possibly relating to the acquisition of the print on behalf of the then collector. Despite age in very good condition: small wormhole on the top left, some smudges, and dirt due to handling. Read more
