I HAVE A LOVELY OLD MEAT PLATE 18.5" ACROSS X " IN GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS BUT THE GLAZE IS SLIGHTLY CRAZED WHICH IS TO BE EXPECTED WITH ITS AGE. IT HAS A BLUE AND GOLD EDGING PATTERN WHICH IS IN GOOD CONDITION.ON THE BACK IT SHOWS PRINTED IN BLACK, THE NAME WEDGWOOD & SON (CANT READ THE INITIAL) WITH A CROWN ABOVE IT. THE NUMBER IN RED IS ALSO ON THE BACK WITH A '6' ('J' ?) UNDER IT. A NUMBER 15 IS ALSO INDENT STAMPED. THERE IS ANOTHER STAMP WHICH LOOKS LIKE ' WEDGWOOD & MADE IN ENGLAND ' BUT ITS NOT VERY CLEAR AND IS INDENTED. I HAVE USED IT FOR MY TURKEY PLATE FOR YEARS AND MY GRANDMOTHER BEFORE ME. ITS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT JUST NOT USED ANYMORE AND WE ARE DOWN SIZING, HENCE SALE ON HERE, I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE COLLECTED AS I DONT WANT TO RISK POSTING IT. Read more

For sale is a spectacular hand-painted and signed large (cm) plate from the famous ceramics factory of Estrela De Conimbriga in Portugal, from their SEC XVll design. Unfortunately there is a crack that runs across the right hand edge of the plate towards the mounting hole on the rear, but this is hardly noticeable if it were to be wall mounted and purely for decorative purposes. Hence the low price. On the edge of the inner lip there are three holes for the purpose of hanging this on a wall. This decoration follows the same outlines as the decoration“17th Century Blue and White”, but the landscapes have become more colourful with the colours having been introduced. The prevalence of landscapes, cane fields and animals remains. The ceramics factory Estrela de Conimbriga is located in the town of Condeixa-a-Nova, in the coastal strip of the central region of Portugal, about 192 km north of Lisbon, 120km south of Porto, and a mere 12 km from Coimbra, the main city of the central region. Founded in , actually with about 50 employees, the factory has been devoted to the production of Artistic and Decorative Faiance, and to the Utilitarian Tableware of high quality and different decorations. The history of the influence of the Orient in the beginnings of 17th century earthenware is closely linked to the discovery of the maritime route to India, when Vasco da Gama, on the first exploratory journey in , brought back Chinese porcelain for King Manuel.
