This substantial (i.e. heavy!) futon sofa-bed base has been with us for 12 years and is still looking good. Converts easily from sofa to bed and we found it comfortable as both! Wooden slats allow the futon to breathe and are replaceable. We still have the instructions in case you ever need to disassemble it (to get through narrow doorways/halls). We also have 2 x 6-layer futons if you want them (but we understand if you don't). One has a black&red oriental cover (pictured), the other has a dark blue cover. The base is 10 inches off the ground before you add the futons. This is an original Vienna style Classic solid American oak sofa bed from Futon that seats 3-4 people comfortably, and converts to a very comfortable standard double bed in three seconds. The Futon is Ultimate Futon type ideal for heavy every day use and comfortable sitting and sleeping. Comes with Aldburgh cocoa machine washable cover and Aldburgh cocoa large back cushions x3 (the covers are also machine washable). We got it May-June (Price £).
