Vox Consort electric guitar in red with Hank Marvin signature. Description from the Vox Showroom website: "The later version of the Consort looked a bit more like a Fender Stratocaster. It was offered from through . It was available in a red or sunburst polyester finish. The second version of the Consort featured three Vox VII single coil pickups with a three position pickup selector switch, a volume control and two tone controls. The upgraded Vox "Hank B Marvin" signature roller bearing tremolo system was included on the Consort. Hank Marvin was the lead guitarist with the popular UK instrumental band "The Shadows." The sycamore neck used on the later Consort was topped with a rose wood fret board and had an adjustable truss rod. The Consort retailed for about 79 GBP (or about $220 USD) in . Adjusted for imflation, the Consort would sell today for about $." ------ It is quite an old instrument and was offered by Vox from . For that reason, it is not in the best condition but all 3 pick ups are still in good working order. Here is a list of the defects that I've spotted: - Slight rust on headstock pegs - Quite a few scratches and marks on back of neck - A couple of small cracks at base of neck - Some bits of rust on the pick ups - Rust underneath the bridge on the whammy bar - 5 fairly large cracks to the base of the body on the front As it is such a rare guitar I have put an asking price of £250. The body is a two-piece alder crafted to Fender’s own specification and finished in Fiesta Red by Northwest Guitars. These are manufactured as near to Fender’s specifications as possible and are compatible with original Fender parts. Northwest Guitars also spend a lot of time on their colours; especially the early 50's ones like this one in Fiesta Red to ensure aesthetic authenticity. The neck is in beautiful birds eye maple as was Hank’s original guitar, and was crafted by WD Music who are licensed by Fender. It does have a Fender decal on the headstock but it is Luthier crafted. The white scratch plate and electrics including Sky pickups are manufactured by Dongho Electronics of Korea who also make Kent Armstrong pickups. (Distributed by WD Music). The guitar has been crafted with gold coloured hardware to emulate the complete Hank Marvin look. The tuners are Gotoh and the strings are Fender nickel-plated steel 9'S (250L Light).
