I have had these for many many years and they were bought as rare vintage back then? reluctant sale but clearing some of my Asian/Indian items. Not sure exactly where they originally came from. The heads Feet and arm bits are made of solid hand painted wood, they have not been in the sun so no fading although the chickens feet got damaged and removed at some stage, otherwise in beautiful condition. (still have them feet with broken toes and will include what i have). 24" tall Unique Unusual Rare Antique Vintage Papier Mache Lion

Do not expect a new item in a pristine condition. The lion has damage on the tail and the feet and the paintwork is rubbed bare in places and littered with little nicks and scrapes. Having got that out of the way, this is a truly amazing piece of art, which I have not come across before. At 24 inches tall, 32 inches in length and 11 inches wide, it is a substantial little piece that will create a focus and discussion point for any room. I suspect that is probably early to mid-century and could possibly be Russian made looking at the writing on the newspapers which created it. Happy to send more photos if required. This is a most unusual and quite rare vintage picture card game of 'Cops and Robbers' by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. They have illustrated the cards with their usual great skill and used interesting fun characters including - Peg-leg Horace, Snatcher Jack, Fingers Maurice, Billy-the-Bag, Grabber Dan, Grandma Swag.... The back of the box explains how to play four exciting games, with 36 picture cards. These being Cops & Robbers, Old Maid, Snap and Pairs. Each game is for up to 4 players, ages 3 years upwards. The cards are in very good condition and not marked. The box has a mark where a child put some sellotape and there is a crease at the top at the back of the box.
