A set of Avery pharmaceutical cast iron coin operated platform scales. Originally from a pharmacy in north London. Enamelled in a light pastel green with a burgundy brown enamelled base. Some of the enamel is chipped (see photo 4). The scales are in pounds and stones and will weigh up to 20 stone. Collection only as they weigh very heavy & buyer would need a parcel trolley & at least two people to collect them. A great set of vintage P W C Stankey Colliers Arms Avery platform scales which are coin operated using a 1p piece. This set would have been a common site at most pharmaceutical/chemists shops up and down the country and they are in excellent condition from the 's with it's space age look and lime green and white enamel finish. The scales are fully functioning. The scales can weigh up to 20 stones/280 pounds only shows the weight in pounds and stones. No metric kilograms on this set. The accuracy is not what you would expect from modern day electronic scales but it is not too bad. Unfortunately it has no key to the coin collector tin in the back. Avery Shop Weighing Scales - 's/'s Collectable and a visual ornament for any kitchen. These scales were fully working and in use when I purchased them 10+years ago and were in full use in our kitchen up until last year. Unfortunately during a house move they were placed on their side and the oil which counterbalances the weighing dial came out and although I have been advised that it is a task of simply filling the chamber - this has not been done and due to this I am selling the scales as needing this repair. The visual appearance is as used - there is some enamel which has been worn which I think adds to the old, vintage look and patina finish (please see photos for condition and visual look).
