Gorgeous Engineer's Desk, relisted after a regretable encounter with a timewaster. Simple but timeless design with five drawers to one side offering ample storage. Two of the drawers have been sub-divided as shown. Features its original half-moon brass handles, each of which is stamped GR which indicates that it would have been made during the reign of George V (). All of the drawers are dovetail jointed and there's a lip at the back of the desk to prevent anything from falling off. The table legs was from around the 40s or 50s I think. The legs are beautiful slender and slightly tapered. This makes a nice little work station desk or a unique console table. It's currently stripped..... (the legs have remnants of paint on which I think looks nice so haven't taken it off totally)......but I am happy to paint it or stain it for a few pounds more. If you prefer it stripped it can be as is, or stripped and waxed. We had 5 of these all salvaged from one post office and all lovingly restored by us. This is the last piece so don't miss out! They don't come up for sale often. It was produced in the mid 60s from steel. We have completely cleaned the piece and treated it with a mat graphite paste. It retains much of its beautiful original patina with the wear and tear expected on a piece of hardworking industrial furniture.
