The bureau comes from Adam Bede. It comes in two parts and will fit in any car. Has 6 drawers for pens, stamps etc. and a leather insert in the writing section. It is very pretty. Vintage oak Bureau / writing desk with drop down leaf, This lovely elegant design desk is in very good condition.I have no idea of the age of this but assume it dates from at least the s / s as it has been in the family for as long as I can remember. But please make up your own mind about the age based on the photos and more experience than I have! We are selling this only as part of necessary down-sizing.It has been a treasured piece of family furniture and has been well looked after and regularly cleaned with furniture polish. As far as I can tell the wood is oak / oak veneer, but the back panel is just regular stained plywood.The exterior is largely unmarked - see photos. The lid is very slightly warped in that the top left corner doesn't sit as tight against the frame as the rest - see photo 3. The interior of the desk top has signs of use as would be expected (see photos), but the exterior is in very good clean, undamaged condition. The hinges and stays are in good working order. There are two original keys for the brass lock in the lid which also works perfectly.The drawers pull in and out smoothly. The handles show some signs of wear to the "brass" finish.The desk stands 95cm high x 42cm deep x 59cm wide. The writing flap measures 55cm wide x 28cm deep and is 69cm off the floor. £, Bristol,.

This old oak writing bureau with bookcase has 2 decorative glass doors and 3 shelves. There are 8 compartments in the bureau section and 2 pull out supports for the desktop. The bureau is an attractive piece of furniture, quite useable as it, but to get it back to its former glory it will require just a little light restoration. The glass bookcase has a functional lock with keys but at some time in its life the lock for the desktop has been removed – this does not affect it closing nor its use.
