Martin handcraft soprano sax

A Martin handcraft soprano sax. This is a vintage classic and has a beautiful rounded tone. It's been restored with new pads, corks and felts and plays without issues from top to bottom. It does show some signs of its age - there is a solder visible from a long-ago repair, but all toneholes (soldered on Martins) are unaltered so it must relate to a pillar. There are also a couple of little dints, but the body is straight and i guarantee the instrument is in perfect playing order. It looks likely to last another 80 years at least, and it sounds wonderful. Modern soprano saxes are cold by comparison. Read More

Rare, Vintage, Hofner Committee

Hofner Committee Brunette archtop acoustic, (Serial Number: ) complete with extremely rare Framus period-correct aftermarket pickup set: I have owned this guitar since and it came with the pickups fitted. (These are a rare and valuable collectors item in their own right!) As far as I know they were purchased along with the guitar. It is in very good vintage player condition but is definitely not a pristine “case queen”. Please note, however, that the neck has never required a reset and the heel has not cracked as often happens with vintage Hofners. The guitar comes with its original, very beaten-up case and a replacement enclosed Van Ghent tuner which I have never got around to fitting. I’m slowly downsizing my collection and have come to realise that, despite my sentimental attachment to this lovely instrument, I seldom play it and so would be better moving it on to a new owner who would hopefully appreciate it as much as I have. For the collectors, A most Beautiful and Rare - Committee Acoustic Guitar (Vintage) Serial No (registered) 'Hofner website' Top of the regular range of Hofner archtops, the Committee was designed to impress. The Committee sported the over-large "frondose" headstock (this one) up to , when this was replaced by a President size headstock, but still retaining the impressive "tulip" style mother of pearl inlays in the facia. Birds eye maple veneer was almost exclusively used for the body back and sides, with carved solid spruce body tops, although these seem to have been replaced with laminated tops during the 's, The Committee retained its single Venetian (rounded) body cutaway throughout its production span, which ended around about .. The neck is made of maple and mahogany in a five-part construction, and is supported by an ebony fingerboard; Splendid inlays tell the player the locations. The characteristic 'high-end' frondose headstock signifies this to be one of Hofners better guitars of the time.
