Vintage Monitor Audio - Monitor 14 Loudspeakers in

Selling for around £400 back in the late s these little floor-standers still hold their own with most of today's offerings at a similar price. Sand filled compartments for stability and spikes to anchor them to the floor through the thickest carpets. With dual bass drivers these can go low and move air (I actually have the bottom drivers disconnected and working in ABR mode as that suits my taste in music better, but if you like to rock...) Very nice condition except there's a dent in one of the tweeters due to a previous owner's dog getting down a bit too enthusiastically, but I've never noticed any ill effects from that when listening to them. Selling because I've picked up a nice pair of miniature transmission line monitors that I've always fancied. Won't post due to weight but happy to have collected by a courier if paid in advance.

Vintage Goodmans Goodwood 3-way Classic British Loudspeakers. Great sounding speakers. Been part of my collection, that I am thinning out, for some time. All original drivers in full working order. Good, clean condition, general minor signs of wear as expected for their age. The bass unit of the Goodmans Goodwood speaker consists of a rigid die-cast frame carrying a massive ceramic magnet. The composite diaphragm uses a heavy fibrous cone with high internal damping, the front surface being finished with a plastic coating which also forms the roll surround. The mid-range unit is a small version of the bass unit and uses a 3-inch composite diaphragm of plastic polymer and fibre. The diaphragm is mounted on a rigid die-cast frame which also carries an unusually large ceramic magnet. The dome high frequency radiator (DT3) has a diaphragm moulded from synthetic fabric frontally finished with a homogeneous plastic coating. The dome is mounted at the rear of a short, moulded plastic exponential horn which ensures a wide dispersion angle, correctly loads the diaphragm and improves the overall linearity beyond the highest audible frequencies. In this unit, the diaphragm and magnet system are mounted on a plastic moulding and the rear is completely sealed. Inside the Goodmans Goodwood's cabinet, a synthetic gasket is placed between each drive unit and the front panel to ensure that the whole cabinet is completely sealed.
