It is in perfectly functional order for storage, but is pretty rough round the edges and Has a shelf inside for smaller items. Storage Chest Blanket Toy Box Very large and striking looking rare steel trunk with unusual corrugated construction. I have never seen this design before. This is a very rare all steel trunk from the mid Victorian period and is in fantastic condition considering it’s age. Has a few knocks and scrapes but this all ads to the great patina. I cant find the makers name but on the front the trunk has a Patent number on a brass plaque. I have been told that the trunk could have originated in America and on searching on the internet found a similar trunk for sale but a bit smaller and at a cost of $. This trunk has been scrubbed clean and given a wax polish to the protect patina gained over the years. The inside is as original and has not been touched because it has newspaper from stuck to the bottom and I thought this was interesting, this can be easily removed. Now ready to store your vast array of objet d'art. A beautiful and functional piece of furniture with great character. A superb British made antique steamer trunk. Outstanding quality black painted metal with solid wood braces all round. A stunning original coppered interior. This is in completely original condition so has some dents and marks that all add to its character, full of life and history. Writing reads: H.F Tunbridge, c/o Miss D.Mason,501 New South Head RD,Double bay, Sydney,Australia. This could be used for storage (all catches and handles work),perhaps a blanket box at the foot of a bed. At the moment I have it stood on end and am using it as a lamp stand, endless possibilities. I have for sale an old wooden vintage trunk, with lots of visible history!! It comes with old travel stamps on the sides and on the top. Dimensions are 51cm wide x 76cm long x 63cm High. So it's a large trunk. Slight damage to one of the straps on top, but it's very minimal. There is no key with this trunk, but it closes with two metal clasps.
