'Crusaders' Chess Set: Amazing Bargain

This beautiful brand new chess set is by the internationally renowned Studio Anne Carlton (SAC). It will make a wonderful gift for the serious, discerning chess enthusiast, or even for someone simply with an historical interest in the Crusades. (Think early for Christmas!!!) The hand painted chess figures are meticulous in their detail, and depict key characters, notably Saladin, Richard the Lion Heart and their followers (see photos) The main figures are cms high. The 45cm square chess board is hardwood walnut and sycamore, with a beautifully bevelled edge finish. The whole set, including its box, is in pristine condition, never used and with all its original packaging (see photos). I bought the whole set several years ago as a gift to myself ! at a specialist Games shop in York, possibly called 'Compendium'. I fully intended to learn how to play and never managed it. A check on the Studio Anne Carlton or Chess House site will provide more detail, pictures and prices, and will immediately indicate what an absolute bargain and 'give away' this is. I would really prefer the buyer to collect rather than send by post. However if that is necessary the buyer will be responsible for postage and packaging costs. Please be aware. that both the box of chess pieces and the hardwood board are heavy items. I have taken both to the Post Office and checked the cost of packing and postage. It is £27 for the cheapest way of posting. Given that the same chess set and board are currently on sale for over £200 I think this still represents a huge bargain. HUGE bronze and gold ewar vases, cherub and serpent detail, amazing items

These are the most stunning and extremely heavy antique bronze and ormolu ewars. The detail is outstanding and the colouring to the marble insets are wonderful and they are in immaculate condition. each is 39 inches tall and unvelievably heavy so will take two men to carry each item. the gold detail work is sublime throughout and the attention to detail second to none. the neck of the ewar is the most gorgeous gold serpent which wraps its way around. To one side of the ewar there is a very ornate cherub and to the other a magnificent rams head. the craftsmanship on these has to be seen to be appreciated. You can see a smaller version of this in the Bowes museum. Vintage Korean Soapstone Chess Set - both a game and feature

This is a vintage Korean, hand carved soapstone chess set, bought in when these sets where very popular display pieces in homes, rarely used for playing. The set contains all pieces in a self contained folding chess board, and is clearly stamped as being handmade in Korea. These sets are much sought after display items and I am selling mine due to moving country next month and not being able to take it due to the weight! This set has been in my family and has travelled around. As a result, and due to the nature of the soapstone, a number of the pieces do contain some scuff marks on them (particularly noticeable on the black pieces). Two or three of the pieces do have small chips on them. Overall however, the set is still a very beautiful and interesting addition to anyone's home, and in particular, to anyone with an interest in chess! The chess board does require slight cleaning due to the fact in was sellotaped closed, and the inside boards do need the hinges changed as they are old and prevent the full closure of the board. This set would either make a nice small project for someone to restore, or a lovely gift for someone with a keen interest in the game. It is a very heavy set and therefore is collection only from Winchester, Hampshire. I am willing to consider sensible offers near the asking price. I would advise anyone to come and have a look at the set in person before deciding one way or the other, as I feel it requires a close inspection to fully appreciate it.
