The concept ‘zijlvest’ is concerning the water management organisation, but also concerning he area where it had its responsibilities. The oversight of the spillways, canals and dikes was the responsibility of the ‘esteemed gentlemen’ and was done by the ‘guardian’. The names of those responsible for maintenance were included in the oversight registers.
