Shabby Chic Vintage BUREAU Desk / DRESSING TABLE with Key

This is a beautiful vintage bureau. A quality piece of furniture. Ideal as a work station or a lady's dressing table. This bureau has been lovingly, personally up-cycled: Chalk painted in Annie Sloan 'Paris Grey', subtly distressed, then finished with satin varnish. 'Work areas' (top and inside bureau) have had 2 coats for extra protection and durability. The back of the bureau has been fully painted and varnished. The chest section has: One smaller drawer at top (lockable) Two slightly larger drawers below (bottom drawer is lockable) Original, unusual, drop handles with back plates Keyhole on each drawer (1 is false and 2 are at a rather jaunty angle!) The bureau section has: Lid supports that extend automatically Plenty of pigeon holes and one small drawer inside Pigeon holes have been polished with Annie Sloan dark wax Lockable with original key This vintage piece of furniture has the odd mark, commensurate with it's age, which all adds to it's shabby chic character. I think it is oak, from early 20th Century, but I'm no expert. Vintage oak Bureau / writing desk with drop down leaf, This lovely elegant design desk is in very good condition.I have no idea of the age of this but assume it dates from at least the s / s as it has been in the family for as long as I can remember. But please make up your own mind about the age based on the photos and more experience than I have! We are selling this only as part of necessary down-sizing.It has been a treasured piece of family furniture and has been well looked after and regularly cleaned with furniture polish. As far as I can tell the wood is oak / oak veneer, but the back panel is just regular stained plywood.The exterior is largely unmarked - see photos. The lid is very slightly warped in that the top left corner doesn't sit as tight against the frame as the rest - see photo 3. The interior of the desk top has signs of use as would be expected (see photos), but the exterior is in very good clean, undamaged condition. The hinges and stays are in good working order. There are two original keys for the brass lock in the lid which also works perfectly.The drawers pull in and out smoothly. The handles show some signs of wear to the "brass" finish.The desk stands 95cm high x 42cm deep x 59cm wide. The writing flap measures 55cm wide x 28cm deep and is 69cm off the floor. £, Bristol,.

Details about   Unique vintage dog-head whip with carved

You  are bidding on a very unusual and possibly unique hand-crafted vintage hunting whip.  It's stoutness and the hound-head suggests it was probably made for and carried out Beagling.  The composition of the wood suggests it is probably Hazel - a branch cut from a tree and utilised into a item with great character. The shaft is 3" (nearly 8 cm) in circumference.   It is decorated with a hand-carved chevron pattern reminiscent of the braiding on the shaft of a leather-covered whip. The entire whip from top of the dog's head to the bottom of the shaft is cm), to the bottom of the keeper cm).   It has its original leather keeper with its marks of usage (though still perfectly sound and usable) but has been rewhipped, as shown in the photographs.  The hound head has two small black glass eyes and is 4 3/4" long ((12 cm).  It has such character and is a very tactile piece, polished by handling and many many years of use. A rare piece which would make a wonderful present for any dog lover or anyone connected with hunting and outdoor pursuits.
