Remarkable Persian palace carpet: Sarouk Feraghan Persian
Welcome to Passion d'Orient:The village of Sarouk is located in the central region of Iran, about 40 km north of the city of Sultanabad. The carpet production in this region increased significantly towards the end of the 19th century, due to the considerable export demand, which resulted, at that time, in a flourishing business activity for the Ziegler company, whose headquarters were in the neighbouring city of Sultanabad. The sturdiness of the structure, the elegance of the design and the harmony of the colours, chosen from among the softest and most stylish, enabled that, in the 20th century, Sarouk carpets were exported in great number to the West, and especially to the United States. The knots used to make them are asymmetrical which allows for a higher density. Manufacture: Hand-knotted. Measurements:295 x 195 cm. Thickness: approximately 10 mm.
