Story Behind the Art: The town of Heriz is known as one of the most significant historical places in the Azerbaijan province. They are famous among collectors because of their soft earth-tone colors and geometric patterns. This particular rug was created in the Varanasi region of India,in the Bhadohi village, where weavers re-create the original Heriz design. These rugs are made by Mahmood Alam and his family. They are hand-knotted in their own homes, and everyone in the family helps out in the process of rug making, from his wife,Shakiba,to the youngest daughter,Jamila. They process the wool, themselves in their home, prior to making the rugs. What is Worldstock? The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design.
