Gorgeous Gullistan Vases - Unique - Copper, Enamel & Silver
13.5 cm tall, approx. 8 cm across. Collection from Plymouth (PL6) before 29th June. Gulistan is a very unique metal art form, developed by the local artisans of eastern Anatolia. The process begins with a sheet of copper that is then hammered and formed to its functional shape by hand, followed by enamel plating. After the design is cut out, it is left in the oven for oxidation at various temperatures which appear as various shades on the copper. After the silver inlay process in the grooves, a thin layer of lacquer is applied to prevent discoloration. The designs on Gulistan are similar to the great Ottoman era of 15th, 16th and 17th centuries where flowers, scripts and reliefs were the most popular forms of design. No set pattern is used and every piece is the expression of the individual artist, thus no two pieces can be exactly alike. Ad ID: Delivery Service Consumer Credit
