Reluctant sale due to house move, I have for sale my 3 Silkie Hens and their coop. One pure white, one partridge brown and one cuckoo grey - they are delightful pets. Unlike hybrids, these girls will not ruin your garden and are very content exploring the lawn and borders for treats. They do not have feathers, more like soft fur and for that reason prefer not to get too wet - they lay delicious eggs, smaller than shop eggs - and so tasty! They are quite tame and like to be picked up and stroked. The coop is a White Doodlehouse - made of recycled plastics so very easy to clean and much better than the wooden ones which can harbour red mite. We have a dog and he has been taught not to eat them. The Rhode Island Chicken is the Mother hen, Ethel and protects her more shy friend Paloma. Ethel will happily squat and wait for you to puck her up. Paloma will come running if you have food in your hand but will take be a little shy to being picked up. They are both inquisitive and love chatting to you. I am regretfully letting go of my girls as my work schedule has increased and I do not have the time to look after them the way they deserve. I want them to go to a loving family home. The girls lay eggs about every two days. Being purebreeds I am told they do not lay everyday and will live longer than that of a hybrid egglayer. Most days there is 1 egg in the coop and the next you may end up with three. I love their surprises! The Coop I got brand new and is made by Cocoon. Nice and sturdy with sturdy corrugated plastic roof. I have not fixed the roof onto the house as I was putting it together myself but it is possible to do so. The Coop is in wearable conidtion to be expected with chickens. They are being cleaned out once a week at the moment.
