We purchased the freshly felled tree ourselves, at the local sawmill.The tree was subsequently transported to the Netherlands using special transportation, in long boards of 4 metres. We had these boards be made into designer furniture. This dining table was made from the middle board, which is theheart of the tree, the full diameter.Once in the Netherlands, the table was designed and built using a special method.The board was varnished 7 times with water resistant, UV-resistant boat varnish, impact resistant.This means you can place all kinds of items on it without creating circles. The entire table top is supported by 3 strong, transparent consoles of 3 x 3 cm thick, extra strong plexiglas. This not only makes the table very stable, but it seems to be floating, which creates a unique effect. Especially in combination with transparent chairs, such as those by Philippe Starck.Moreover, it provides plenty of leg room because there are no crossbars. This is in completely original condition so has some dents and marks that all add to its character, full of life and history. This could be used for storage (all catches and handles work),perhaps a blanket box at the foot of a bed. At the moment I have it stood on end and am using it as a lamp stand, endless possibilities.
