Once the bracket is fixed on the child's bike it stays there. The tow-bar on the adult bike can stay attached, but tucked away, or can be quickly removed if need be using the quick release lever. No tools are required for attaching the bike to the tow-bar. They were fantastic to have when our children were at the stage of being able to ride their bike, but not up to maybe doing a long ride down the Cuckoo Trail, or we were negotiating a busier area.
