MINT copy of Steve Thornton’s “Flytyers of the world” but this copy is a truly special collectors item as it comes with Herman Broers “Simple Squid” - the actual one made for the book and which features in the photos. The Books were a limited edition of and this one is especially rare with one of the actual patterns created for the book. £30 (Collectors item with real fly from the book). The book alone cost £60 new Steve’s idea was to produce a work not only about the flies that these people tie but also about their lifestyles and ambitions. Steve has been meticulous in designing this work, not only from the selection of flytyers who, as Steve states, are ‘the leaders in their field’ but design, layout and paper selection; everything is top shelf. This hardback book "for boys" from the early 20th century is published by Thomas Nelson & Sons. However, I'm unable to ascertain the date of publication. It is illustrated - some of which are in colour. There is an inscription on the first page which reads "To my dear Ken with fond love from Pops Dec ". I know this to be authentic as it belonged to my father. The cover has some minor fading, but the spine is more so. There is some scuffing to the corners of the cover and signs of damp on the edges of the pages. However, all the pages are clean, unmarked and not dog-eared. The actual pages are more like card than paper. This item comes from a smoke and pet free home. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
