Morris Cumbrae Furniture
Please note: 1. If you are reading this advertisement, then the items are indeed still for sale... 2. If you have any questions or wish to arrange purchase, send me an e-mail and include a land-line (NOT a cell-phone) number on which I can contact you. I have for sale four pieces of s bedroom furniture produced by Morris of Glasgow under the ‘Cumbrae’ name. These pieces have been in my family since new, however their condition is an issue. With the exception of the ‘Tall-Boy’, they have considerable marking and water rings. They will need professional restoration, but bearing in mind their relative scarcity, this should significantly increase their value. They are veneered with Australian walnut (hopefully these days Morris source materials a little closer to Lanarkshire). All have blade shaped legs, and brass (rather than the more commonplace wood) handles. 1. A matching pair of three drawer chests. One is badly marked (particularly the top) and has minor damage to a small section of the veneer on the bottom drawer. The other chest is in better condition but still requires attention. Dimensions - 33 inches tall by 31 inches wide by 18 inches deep. 2. A three drawer dressing table with two narrow side drawers flanking a wider central one. The mirror is in a fixed position. As with the chests, the veneer is marked. Dimensions - 29 inches tall (49 inches with mirror) by 45 inches wide by 18 inches deep. 3. A double fronted, double drawer ‘Tall Boy’, with an interior mirror and clothes rail (which is slightly warped). It is in much better condition than the other pieces. Dimensions - 62 inches tall by 30 inches wide by 21 inches deep. Morris have been producing furniture for 130 years and that experience shows in the quality of these pieces. So, if you’re looking for ‘50s style, this furniture has that in spades. However if you want mint condition pieces then you’ll need to look elsewhere and pay around £ per item. This furniture can, by arrangement, be inspected and I invite offers from serious purchasers. I am willing to consider selling individual pieces but my preference is for them to remain as a set. *Further pictures are available Cash only please. Read More
