The exclusive KAISER idell- series was designed in the s by the German silversmith Christian Dell. It was very popular during the Bauhaus period. Dell, who worked as a foreman in Bauhaus and as a teacher in the famous Bauhaus in Weimar (between ), is seen as one of the founders of the Bauhaus principles, which influenced Danish design considerably. This can be see in het work of Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm. Their designs clearly show Bauhaus style elements. The asymmetric design of the KAISER idell lamp shade is characteristic for the design. The shade is made of high quality steel and was hand painted as was customary.
