Vintage East German Parlour Guitar - Recently Restored What can I say about this other than "Wow" ! READ: I waffle on a bit, but I'm honest, and an experienced player, so read what I have written below, as I say it like it is, and can be trusted. This is a vintage Musima guitar from the days when East Germany were a forgotten country, behind the Berlin wall. It is probably 50 years old but I've done a great job cleaning her up, and restoring her, even if I say so myself, without losing any vintage charm. She's had a knock to the lower shoulder at some point in her life, (see pics) which you simply wouldn't see unless you wanted to stare at it, but the rest of her is very lovely indeed. Closed tuners, floating vintage bridge, and a new chrome tailpiece, together with a custom pickguard. Nice grains throughout, and a rather stunning sunburst finish. The guitar has had it's fretboard oiled, finish oiled, and tuners serviced, and the nut and bridge have been cut with luthier files to ensure no string snag. Fret edges smoothed and nut lubricated with vaseline and pencil lead. Zero fret lowered and crowned, and a brand new set of Martin custom lights added (11 gauge). The guitar has an action of just under 4mm at the 12th fret. No truss rod, so a slight gap in the middle, but not one that will stop you playing it. I set it up with a view to playing slide on it in various tunings, but as long as you can play, you'll still be able to play it in standard tuning for basic playing needs, and you're not just limited to Cowboy chords, as it does play up the neck too, but it's not going to be suitable for chord melody stuff, unless you have very strong hands. Certainly it isn't a guitar for a beginner, but somebody who is appreciative of collectable vintage guitars, and understands the value in vintage charm, over modern playability. NOTE: The case is NOT included as I'm already short of a few cases for my own guitars. Hard to put a value on a vintage guitar, so I'm going to say £299 or might consider a part ex / swap There is definitely not another like this, in this condition, for sale in the UK. For sale here is an immaculate, ungigged and rarely used (hence the sale) Tangle wood TWJSF CE acoustic guitar. Solid wood acoustic guitar, with a Cedar top, Amara sides, and Amara back with a Spalt Mango mid section, giving it a stunning look with some quite attractive and fetching figuring of the wood. There is mahogany binding, a Sonokeling fingerboard and a single cutaway for high-fret access. A lovely, light sounding acoustic, great for flat-picking and strumming. The ‘SF’ in the name means ‘Super Folk’, so this helps to understand the sound they are aiming for. This guitar also comes fully equipped with a Fishman passive acoustic guitar pickup system. The connection is made with the lead into the rear strap peg, and the volume and tone controls are accessible at the side of the soundhole of the guitar. Selling as the guitar has just not been used in about 18 months of ownership. Comes with a gig bag and a spare set of strings. ’S HOHNER WESTERN SERIES MW-500G ACOUSTIC GUITAR C/W PERIOD HARD CASE On offer is a “’S HOHNER WESTERN SERIES MW-500G ACOUSTIC GUITAR C/W PERIOD HARD CASE”. I have confirmed with Hohner in Germany that this guitar, which is of Western Guitar Series, was manufactured in Korea in the ’s. This guitar is in the condition as found, but has had a coat of lemon oil on the fret board and a quick polish, plus removal of old strings and for its age it is in “GOOD CONDITION”. As you would expect of a guitar of this age there numerous dings and small knocks, it has no fret wear, but there is fret board wear down to the sixth fret, proving this guitar has been played and loved. It has an adjustable truss rod incorporated within the neck. There are some scratch marks to the scratch plate and there is a small 2 ½ inch light circle mark on the front, probably due to a sticker being on the guitar at some time. I have taken the original strings off as they were of little use, this will also allow the end user to fit whatever gauge strings they desire. The bridge and pegs will be in a separate pack inside the storage box of the hard case. The hard case is, again for its age, in “GOOD CONDITION”. It has a three hinges, three clasps and a locking clasp which does not close shut. The leather handle has some wear, please see photograph. NB: Please see photographs for condition; I have tried to show the various knock and dings. If being sent via carrier I will use MyHermes at an additional cost of £, but collection is also available.
