Antique Colour Mezzotint and Frame - The Romps by Sydney E Wilson / William Redmore Bigg.
A fine colour mezzotint ‘The Romps’ engraved by Sydney E Wilson after a picture by William Redmore Bigg R.A. () Professionally reframed () in its original vintage frame, which whilst secure and square has some signs of ageing with age related marks to the plaster. Overall size is 35 “x 26” and has a 1" gilt frame. Visible print is 24” x 19” mounted in a matt olive green. Professionally re-framed with acid free mount, original clear glass and frame which has been re-cornered and has the original backing. Original stickers with framers address (D & M Davis of 1, 2, 3 Livery Street and 13 Colmore Row, Birmingham.) Print signed in Pencil by the engraver (Sydney E Wilson in lower right corner) and embossed with an elliptical seal and the letters NFX / H and Printers Association in the lower right corner of the print. Back plate shows details, ‘one of only 425 prints and then plated destroyed’ this particular print number is unknown; it has been in my possession for approx 25 years, and never hung in direct light. Very good condition print with no foxing, dated in very small print on top edge of picture – Copyright published March 1st by Kray & B ………. 12 Old Bond Street, London.
