The origin of the designs and the making of these items are rooted in late nineteenth century Persia, inspired by the carpets called Ziegler, named after the Persian carpet export company with its headquarters in Manchester, which at that time had opened its commercial offices in the Persian city of Sultanabad. The main characteristic of the rugs knotted today is the materials used. This is wool spun and dyed by craftsmen according to traditional methods and using natural dyes.
