STEAM BOAT / LAUNCH FOR SALE

'Kipper' is a coal-fired open steam launch of about 16' overall length with a 4' 6" beam, tiller steering and seating for 3 or 4 people. The non-condensing, low-revving engine comprises a single double-acting cylinder (Bore 2.1/4" and stroke 3.1/2") with a Stephenson reversing link and exhausting used steam through the copper funnel. The mahogany-clad, vertical, fire-tube boiler (36 tubes of 3/4" diameter) has a current boiler ticket and draws water from a 70 litre bow tank (it can also use raw water)via a steam injector or a hand operated feed pump. Coal bunkers either side carry sufficient fuel for a days steaming. The large diameter stainless steel prop runs at double engine speed through a 1:2 drive via toothed belt giving very relaxed and quiet cruising. The boat has a canopy and side screens for weather protection if desired, also a full boat cover. Loud steam whistle. Fitted brass bilge pump (also has steam bilge eject). Fire extinguisher. Flag staff with red ensign doubles as lever to lift the rudder. Under seat and bow storage areas. Boat hook. Mooring lines. Oil cans for steam and lubricating oils. A run of five fenders spliced together quickly and easily hooks either side when mooring up. New winch on trailer. The low maintenance GRP hull with varnished wood topsides make this a lightweight boat (about 500kg) which is easy to launch and recover using the trailer included in the sale. Combination Launch Trolley / Road Trailer for a Dinghy / Boat

The Launch Trolley is made by RAPIDE, is galvanised and suitable for a 10 to 14 ft boat. It is adjustable to a specific boat length and hull shape so should be suitable for a variety of boats. it has nearly new pneumatic rubber tyres and is generally in very good condition as it has been stored in a garage. The matching Road Trailer is also by RAPIDE. It does require checks and possibly new suspension as I have never used it on the road and it was on it's side in the garage for more than 5 years. The tyres have been given new tubes in the last few weeks and the rest is all solid metal work with galvanised mud guards. A mast crutch is fitted.
